In various fields of designs, we strongly support domestic and Japan-to-foreign applications for domestic clients, and foreign-to-Japan applications for foreign clients.
With the especially strict descriptive requirements in Japan compared with the other countries (for example, 6 consistent drawings with different views must be attached to the application), it is very difficult to achieve the best balance between maintaining effectiveness of priority and fulfilling the descriptive requirements of the JPO, in cases of foreign-to-Japan design applications claiming priority based on a design application filed in a foreign country. Our plentiful experience in such cases allows us to take appropriate countermeasures so that design rights will be granted for the application.
